The holiday season has arrived, and a historical hotel in De Pere, Wis, is getting into the Christmas spirit.
The Union Hotel and Restaurant continues their annual holiday tradition of Yuletide Carolers and Christmas decorations this year. Guests can make dinner reservations and enjoy a meal while Christmas carolers go from table to table and sing the holiday classics. They can also enjoy the many decorations, including the infamous tree with approximately 14,000 lights wrapped around it and many lit wreaths, holly, and another holiday décor throughout.
After canceling the holiday events last year due to the COVID-19, many are excited for the return of the festivities. “I am so happy to have the carolers back this year,” said Jamie Lenhart, a dinner guest at the restaurant. “My family and I look forward to attending this every Christmas. It has become one of our favorite traditions!” This is the 25th anniversary of the Yuletide Carolers at the Union Hotel. The Yuletide Carolers perform every Wednesday and Thursday night in December. Attendees have highly expected this event every year, and the event was fully booked in just one day.
The Yuletide Carolers are comprised of four singers dressed in period costumes. They walk around each dining room to entertain guests with cheerful Christmas songs. Guests can request their favorite Christmas songs for the carolers to perform. “We chose Silent Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” said Jamie Lenhart, “those are two of our favorites, and they sang them beautifully!”
The Union Hotel dates to 1883 and is one of the oldest buildings in the city of De Pere. It is owned and operated by McKim Boyd, and many members of the Boyd family work there as well. “The hotel has been in my family for decades,” Boyd shared, “I grew up here and worked alongside my father and siblings and eventually took it over.” The hotel has many guest rooms on the second and third floors that are available to rent. On the main floor, there are three dining rooms, including a private dining room, a full bar with seating, and a lounge where guests can relax, socialize, and enjoy a cocktail. The hotel boasts a historic and charming atmosphere, and the Boyd family has worked hard to uphold its history.
The restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. For more information on the Union Hotel and Restaurant, click the link provided below:
