Taylor’s Take

SURE:  They say it’s a great way to build professional skills and your resume – but how do you know for sure?

Taylor Schroeder, former president of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at UWGB, applied all the skills she learned into her post-academic career as a project manager at Media Genius. “PRSSA really helped me professionally,” she said, “It helped me meet people in different industries – and helped me network a TON!”

Networking opportunities are plentiful in PRSSA – through events on campus or conferences around the country. Not only can these experiences open doorways to networking and professional opportunities, PRSSA also provides great ways to gain new perspectives and build communication skills.

PRSSA also provides leadership opportunities. Schroeder took full advantage of by working hard to become president during her time on campus. It’s a role in which she learned, “delegation, task management and maybe more importantly, trust,” she said. PRSSA is a great platform to learn these skills, and many others necessary for future leadership roles.

Schroeder not only gained valuable skills, but also had fun doing it. “I really loved my time with PRSSA. It will always be one of the most fun experiences of college,” she added.
